Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Ridgeway. It’s a great pleasure, as the Principal of this wonderful school, to introduce you to all it has to offer.

We are committed to inspiring learners for their future through a vibrant, innovative and supportive environment where students develop resourcefulness, resilience, accept responsibility and are challenged to take risks in order to succeed. Maximising individual students’ development and achievement is what everyday is about. Achievement in examinations is high and we offer an extensive range of leadership and extra-curricular opportunity that is second to none. Students develop the skills and confidence to prepare them for life in the 21st century and it is our aim that students leave us with a passion for life-long learning.

Our students are wonderful ambassadors for the school and take pride in continuing to shape and develop further the excellent community to which they belong. This website contains latest events and copies of The Ridgeway News designed to keep students and parents up-to-date with school life and to give others a snapshot of our school. I very much hope that you will want to come and visit us in person.

A Level Results Summary

In the context of a significant number of reforms to the A Levels this year, with more challenging content and changes to the assessment regime, we are really pleased with students’ performance.

There has been a significant improvement of:

  • 23% in 3 x A*-E to 73%
  • 8% in 2 A*-E to 89% reflecting the hard work of students and staff.
  • 78% of students achieved A*-C grades
  • 48% achieved A*-B grades with a Value Added of +0.05

We are delighted that the vast majority of our students are continuing to university, many to those in the Russell Group with some securing apprenticeships.

Jon Dean with A*AA is going to Cardiff to study maths, Will Fieldsend achieving AAA is going to Nottingham to study Natural Sciences, Hayden Garraway achieved AAA taking a gap year before going to Bristol to study Law and Akeim Robinson with AAB will study Economics at Exeter.

Particular successes include Alex Cole who has secured an apprenticeship with BT and will pursue a BSc alongside. We are also proud to announce that Josh Rogers will be joining one of the top UK drama schools, The Drama Centre in London.
