Community - Work Experience
Introduction to Work Experience 1st - 5th
March 2010
This work pack is designed to help you to gain the
maximum benefit from your work experience placement.
You are asked to record what you have done and learnt each day; make this record
as full as possible so that you can look back at the work when you return to
school. On completing a successful work placement you will be awarded a work
experience certificate which can be included in your Record of Achievement
folder.
This work pack will also be used to develop information for the careers library,
so keep your work neat and easy to read.
Why Work Experience?
There are many reasons why Key Stage 4 students go out of school on Work
Experience. All are good reasons but some have greater importance for some
students than others.
Which of these is the most important for you?
- To find out, first hand, about the differences between school and work.
- To meet different people
- To associate with adults
- To see how people get on together at work
- To see how people manage other people
- To learn about a particular job
- To increase self-confidence
- To find out how organisations work
- To try a job to see if it suits you
- To help your understanding of how Industry and Commerce work
- To bring back information for
a) other students
b) yourself to use in other areas
- To see how success at school can relate to a career
