Mission
Statement
The mission of the physical Education is to enable every student to participate in a structure programme of physical Education; so that the physical, cognitive and social needs of each individual student are developed to their full potential and therefore inspired to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life.
Physical Education is a sequential education program. It is based physical activities undertaken in an active, caring, supportive and nonthreatening atmosphere in which every student is challenged and successful
When the students leave the school it is expected that each student would have:
- Developed a wide range of physical skills and abilities in a variety of activity areas.
-
- Fostered a positive attitude towards regular participation in sport and exercise.
- Gained an understanding of the need for a healthy lifestyle.
- Developed and gained an understanding of safe working practice.
- Developed their social interaction skills.
- Demonstrated sportsmanship and acquired the ability to lead others in physical exercise.
Every student participates in National Curriculum Physical Education at Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) and Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and Year 11).
There is also an option for students to choose GCSE Physical Education which give students 5 extra lessons in the timetable (see GCSE page for more information).
There is currently an opportunity for students at Key Stage 4 to gain a Sports Leaders qualification through extra-lessons and activities outside curriculum hours.
At A Level we offer Physical Education through the OCR exam board.

Evidence for assessment may be generated through a range of diverse activities including workplace assessment, role play and oral presentation.
