Middle Leader Development Programme (MLDP)



The MLDP helps schools to grow their own leaders of the future through a facilitated programme that has been designed, developed and accredited by the National College of School Leadership. By enhancing the leadership effectiveness of middle leaders such as team leaders and progress leaders, schools can significantly improve the quality of teaching and learning and so raise achievement and standards.

The Ridgeway School, together with Kingsdown School, have two fully trained, NCSL accredited facilitators who are working in partnership to deliver the MLDP to a first cohort made up of 15 members of staff. The cohort, made up of middle leaders from The Ridgeway School, Kingsdown School and Wroughton Infants, will be graduating from the programme in October 2012.

As well as having face-to-face days which focus on six key modules, participants also enjoy the benefit of coaching support within their respective schools and access to on-line NCSL resources. Underpinning the programme is the completion of a Closing the Gap project which provides participants with sustained opportunities to develop their leadership skills in a live context.

Recruitment for the second MLDP cohort which has a scheduled start date in September 2012 is now open and interested schools should contact Steve Colledge, Headteacher at The Ridgeway School, in the first instance for further details.
