Duke of
Edinburgh - Activities Log
The 'Activities Log' is a grey pamphlet which comes
with the Record book pack. It's purpose is to allow the participant to record
the number of hours and the time period (e.g. 3 months) in which they took part
in an activity. Participants will not have to show this to Miss Meredith and
they are not required to fill this activities log in!
The purpose of it is simply to allow pupils and their supervisors to keep a
record of their activities so that when it is complete, the supervisor knows
that the participant has completed the right number of hours over the designated
minimum time period (often 3 or 6 months at bronze and silver). It is especially
useful if the participant goes along to a centre where their supervisor is not
always present, e.g. a gym. The duty instructor could, for example, sign the log
for the activity carried out on the evening of their 'watch'. When the
participant has completed several of these and enough to satisfy the
requirements of the award, the person responsible for signing the appropriate
page in the Record Book can check the log and see that the participant has
satisfied the criteria and sign the Record book even though they themselves
weren't present on all of the occasions when the activities took place.
