Miss H Buttery - Assistant Principal, Head of Sixth Form
It is an honour to lead the Sixth Form at The Ridgeway School. I work very closely with the two heads of year as well as with the mentors, our sixth form student advisor and sixth form administrator to make R6 the most rewarding experience possible for our students. R6 is a dynamic place to learn, and part of my job is to make life at sixth form enjoyable for our students. I do this by ensuring that we have very clear and high expectations, that we provide specific and tailored support for our students, and that we offer a diverse curriculum alongside a varied enrichment programme.
I support the two heads of year with interventions and target setting in their year groups and support the students with university, apprenticeship and job applications through R6 Aspire and R6 Plus. The success of every student is very important to me. I aim to make myself available to students for help, advice, or just a simple chat. The door is always open.
Miss A Marshman – Head of Year 12
I am privileged to work with the fantastic R6 team by leading Year 12 during their first year of their chosen courses. As Head of Year, I with the students to ensure they get the right, personalised support and opportunities that they require to achieve their goals. My aim for the year group is to develop the students into independent and confident adults who can make effective decisions regarding their next steps, whether that be university, apprenticeships or employment. I work with a team of mentors who provide excellent pastoral support and a mentoring programme that supports students throughout their learning journey. I hope to be able to celebrate every success with each student and help them to realise their potential.
Miss S Collins - Head of Year 13
As head of year 12 in R6, I work with the fantastic R6 leadership team to ensure all students are making progress toward their intended outcomes and work closely with them to ensure they make the right next step for them; whether that be university, apprenticeships, or employment. I work alongside the team of dedicated R6 mentors to develop and provide a pastoral programme that supports students in approaching their studies, self-directing their work, and balancing academic commitments with extracurricular activities. It is my passion to ensure all students progress regardless of ability, gender, or background, and equip every student with the skills and confidence to thrive at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form and beyond.
Mrs Amy Midson - Sixth Form Student Advisor
As the R6 Student Support Advisor, I provide students the opportunity to access extra support either with me directly, a referral to in school services, such as counselling, or outside agencies. R6 is an inclusive and friendly environment and I enjoy being part of this. Some of the ways in which I can help students include a listening service, study skills sessions, assistance with applications and planning for next steps. I work closely with the R6 team and students to help remove barriers to learning. It is such a pleasure to see the students at R6 take up opportunities, build resilience and work towards their goals.
Mrs S Hoyland - Sixth Form Student Administrator
I am a non-teaching member of the sixth form, I work with the students to ensure they are registered, organised and making the most of their Independent Study time. I am the first port of call for parents and students as I am responsible for the calls coming into the R6 department and my office is based right in the middle of the Study Centre. I track and monitor behaviour data whilst working closely with the R6 team to ensure the students stay on track. A big focus of mine is attendance tracking and I am responsible for the set-up of early intervention if attendance falls below our expectations. This helps us develop strong relationships and ensure students make the most of their time at R6 to help with their future decisions.
