Welcome to Avebury House!
I am excited to be working with all students in Avebury House this year! Our aim for the house is to give students a sense of belonging to a house which they are proud to be a part of and can represent within The Ridgeway School community.
I had the pleasure last year of watching Avebury House win Sports Day and the overall points total last summer which is a fantastic achievement – well done all! The commitment, enthusiasm and effort levels in all events and sports was outstanding. I was very proud when you were told the result and hope for the same outcomes this year!
The Heads of House this year are providing the students with empowerment by allowing them to choose which House Charity they will be fundraising for. Also, designing a house logo, coming up with a House motto and even an anthem! Students will also democratically vote for their House Captains from each year group. I would encourage any pupil who is interested to apply for this position as it is a fantastic opportunity. The idea behind this is to create a house climate pupils can show pride, passion and most importantly for me, enjoyment!
This year, we are providing a range of inclusive and competitive House Challenges in weekly Friday mentoring sessions. This includes quizzes, inter-house sport tournaments, Ridgeway’s Got Talent, The Great Ridgeway Bake Off and launching our “Race across America” challenge in the spring.
Students will be rewarded for their commitment to the House and achievements in school through House Trips. These trips are at Christmas, Easter and in the summer terms.
Please follow our Twitter page to get up to date information regarding Avebury House. This includes our performances in the weekly House Challenges, student shout-outs, celebrating achievements and upcoming trips and events.
If anyone has any questions about Avebury or the House System in general, please do not hesitate to contact me via email.
I am really looking forward to this year as Head of Avebury House and can’t wait to see all student represent the house in whichever activity they choose!
Come on, Avebury!
