I am proud to become the head of Silbury house this year. Together we can all create an immense sense of community and belonging within the school environment. I enjoy playing lacrosse, football and cycling. However, I also have an interest in the Arts and playing piano is something I like to do when I have the time.
As a house team we have already planned and executed a variety of activities this term. This means we hope to reach every students preferences and strengths throughout this school year. We have already seen such wonderful talents from our students. So what better way to celebrate this, than by allowing them to express themselves each week in mentor sessions.
My teaching subject is Science and I plan to bring the house spirit to all of The Ridgeway School this year. I hope that both staff and students feel they can approach me during the school day. My door is always open and I believe our student’s feedback is the biggest measure of our outcomes.
The Heads of House have big plans for this year with lots of different events to include all students regardless of age, interests and ability. This includes The Great Ridgeway Bake Off, Ridgeway’s Got Talent, Spelling Bee, Countdown, a Cultural Fair and much more. Also, engaging the wider ethos of the school to fundraise for the House Charities and events such as Children and Need and Sport Relief. The idea behind this is for all students to engage in and show pride, passion and most importantly for me, enjoyment.
Students will be rewarded for their commitment to the House and achievements in school through House Trips. These trips are at Christmas, Easter and in the Summer. As well as this, mentor groups are now competing for a trophy during every house activity to win those all-important league points.
