Recently, we held our primary transition days, a special time for our school that involves next September’s year 7s experiencing life at The Ridgeway for the very first time. Making the move from primary school to secondary school can be very daunting for children. There are often many concerns, such as navigating a larger school, being with older pupils, and experiencing a rigid timetable.
The main aim of our primary transition days was to help children feel at ease ahead of the move in September, dispel the myths about secondary school, and resolve any concerns they had. Doing this before the six-week break means that children will not spend their holidays worrying and panicking about starting school. Instead, they will arrive in September full of excitement and anticipation for the next stage of their education.
As a school, we always experience a great sense of excitement when we get to meet the soon-to-be year 7s, and this year was no different. Our thoughts now immediately turn to September, as we look forward to helping them settle in and start a fantastic five years of education with us.
We hope that the children who visited us over the last few days left with the same sense of excitement and enthusiasm about returning to school in September, and we wish them a relaxing and fun-filled six-week break.
