Welcome back all students!

The Ridgeway House System

We hope all students have had a great first two weeks back in school – it has been great to see you all! The House Activities have been brilliant including an Art Attack Challenge, The Grand Makeover and a Quarantine Quiz!

Below is our vision statement of the House System at The Ridgeway School. Every activity and event we have planned has been around our core House Values:

We intend to create an inclusive community where all students have a sense of belonging and pride. In this environment, we aim to build strong relationships through healthy competition. This would involve a school-wide approach, allowing student-student and staff-student networks to develop.

We kicked off the weekly Friday activities with the Art Attack Challenge! Each mentor group were given a photo by their Head of House to draw. Mentors nominated each mentee to draw part of the picture, before putting them all together. The Heads of House had a tough job of judging the brilliant entries but the winners are as follows:

Year 7 - 7A1

Year 8 - 8B2

Year 9 - 9K3

Year 10 - 10B3

Year 11 - 11A2

Congratulations to 7A1, 8B2, 9K3, 10B3 and 11A2 on your fantastic drawings! Each winning mentor group has been presented with the Weekly House Activity Winners Trophy and won league points for their houses!

The Grand Makeover involved students decorating their mentor rooms to make their house more visual in their mentor rooms. They had a Friday House Activity session to do this and the results have been fantastic. Please see photos below.

A massive well done to all students and mentors for your contributions to the challenges so far. We have so much more planned this year and look forward to the year ahead.

Please keep an eye on the on the House Twitter pages for results from house activities, upcoming events and more!

See below for the current leader board after Week 1! Have a great weekend everyone!

Even though the LRC is physically inaccessible at the moment, it doesn't mean that the librarians aren't really keen to ensure that students have the perfect book to relax with.

Students are able to look at the library catalogue and send us a form to request a book which magically appears in their mentor room in the next couple of days. If the students don't know what to read then they can give us some ideas of genre that they enjoy and we'll choose something that we think you'll love. And very soon the LRC will be coming out to the students.

We enjoyed celebrating with our Year 11 & 13 students on their results days this summer after an unprecedented time without formal exams.

Congratulations to all students who were accepted onto their chosen Post 16 or 18 course or apprenticeship and we look forward to you keeping in touch with us.

For those students who have left us please do keep in touch, we would love for you to remain an extended part of our community; Please see the postcard below for further details.
