Congratulations to R6 on raising around £200 today for Mind Charity Swindon & Gloucestershire. Great achievement.

Friday, 25th September started that little bit brighter and sweeter than usual as staff got together in the LRC for MacMillan coffee and cake morning.

Delicious home-made cakes and confectionary were served and sold for donations in favour of MacMillan Cancer Support.

We are proud to have raised £33 for this good course.

Later in the morning Mr. Povoas and Mr. Pittaway had the honourable task of selecting the best baked goods.

An amazing first place goes to Avebury and the Victoria Sponge cake, followed by Kennett and their Banana Muffins whilst Barbury and Silbury share the last place.

Thank you everyone for contributing!

Our mentors and mentees have been working really hard since the beginning of the term to develop a sense of community in mentor rooms. A sense of ‘belonging’ and ownership helps all of us humans to feel more confident and contented in our environments, be it at home, school, or work, and so we got cracking.

In order to intensify things a little, we thought we would ‘up the ante’ by creating a competition for the best mentor boards. Mentors and mentees (our year 7 mentors, it transpires, are extremely competitive!) set to it and created some wonderful displays. Well done to all!

The winners were:

Ist: Mr Cowling and 7A1

2nd : Mr Brace and 7B1

3rd: Mrs Nuevo and 7S1

Head Boy

Hi I’m Finley and I am honoured to have been given the prestigious role of Head Boy at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College. Being at Ridgeway since Year 7 I am excited to be able to represent this amazing school. I am so grateful for every opportunity and experience it has offered me and I’m really looking forward to working with the incredible Student Leadership Team and teachers. Although it will be a challenging year, I’m sure that together we will be able to have an enjoyable and rewarding time which will help us progress to the next stage of our lives. Studying Business, Computer Science and Law A-levels, I really enjoy my time at Ridgeway and I’m eagerly awaiting my chance to assist in creating a great year for everyone.

Head Girl

Hello, my name is Gaby and I am delighted to be Head Girl this year. It is a fantastic opportunity and I feel honoured to represent The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College. As I am embarking upon my final year at Ridgeway, I feel extremely grateful for the many opportunities the school have offered me – these have massively helped me to develop my confidence and communication skills, while my passion for learning has deepened. It is an honour to participate in the development of R6; I will endeavour to make school life even more inclusive and positive for everyone, especially after the abrupt end to this year! Currently, I am studying English Literature, History and Biology at A-Level, with the hope of pursuing an International History and Politics degree at University next year.

Deputy Head Boy

Hi, I’m Matt. Since joining Ridgeway and R6 at the start of Year 12, I have been lucky to have been able to take advantage of the opportunities offered to students. I am grateful for this and feel that it has set me up well for the role of Deputy Head Boy. I am proud to be able to represent the school at events as well as represent the students’ views and I look forward to working with the Leadership Team. I aim to use this opportunity to help benefit the School and Sixth Form in a variety of ways and will help to ensure that this year is the best that it can be. I look forward to working closely with the R6 Committees and with the wider School Council. I am currently studying Applied Business, Computer Science and Geography with the aim of going on to get a Level 6 Apprenticeship in Business Management.

Deputy Head Girl

Namaste! I am Nimisha, and I am delighted to be Deputy Head Girl at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College. I look forward to working alongside students and staff to continue supporting an inclusive, engaging and academically fulfilling environment at Ridgeway. To me, education is one of the most empowering things an individual can possess, as it allows you to realise your own potential, and strive towards creating a culture which promulgates values of inclusivity, hard work and dedication. Doing Maths, History and Politics A-levels, I have been lucky enough to meet incredible staff and students. As Deputy, I cannot wait to hear from both staff and the Leadership Team to give back to Ridgeway- a school which has provided me with so many opportunities to learn and gain new perspectives on life. Collaboratively, I look forward to exchanging ideas with you all- so we can continue developing the Ridgeway experience, and engaging with the wider community.
