Every entry will be a House Point for you in September as well as prizes will be awarded for the winner and runner up.
The ever-popular “Front Of The Line” competition is back! Students who quiz on the book they have just finished are put into a hat and the lucky winners get to walk past the queue on a Friday lunchtime, with a friend, and get their chips first! Congratulations, Lily, who got to experience that smugness last Friday 😊
Mr Robertson, Mr Cairns, Mrs Hill and Mrs Chutter all joined in a PE/Library collaboration last week when they talked about their running journeys to students, while Mrs Tonkin read from Adharanand Finn’s book “The Rise of the Ultrarunners”. Mr Cairns managed to prove that ultra-running (running really long distances) is the foundation of modern democracy while Mr Robertson relayed stories of people accidentally breaking world records! Students came up with some brilliant questions to ask at the Swindon Literature Festival interview with Adharanand and are really looking forward to his responses!
Distant running is now one of the fastest-growing sporting activities in the world. It is a symptom of a modern ailment or a healthy antidote to modern life. Adharanand Finn, is an author, newspaper journalist and long distant runner who travelled to the heat of the sport. His journey took him to the deserts of Oman, to the snow capped peaks of the Rockies and on to his ultimate goal, the Ultra-Trail du mont Blanc and now to Swindon!
Mrs Tonkin, LRC Manager, will be speaking to Adharanand Finn at the Swindon Literature Festival, on Sunday 9th May. To listen to the interview please follow https://www.swindonfestivalofliterature.co.uk/sunday-9th-may-2021.
