Ridgeway Student Brings Joy to Care Home Residents

Over recent weeks, there has been increasing public attention to the difficult situation facing those living in care homes.

During the lockdown, care homes have had to close for visitors, leaving residents at risk of becoming lonely and very isolated.

That’s one reason we’re so proud of our year 7 student Jess who has been spending her free time doing all she can to make a difference for local care home residents.

Along with her brother, sister, and mum Dawn, a volunteer visitor, Jess has spent hours creating beautiful cards, filling them with pictures, drawings, poems, and positive messages to send to the residents of Park View, a nearby care home. Jess has even started making and sending origami flowers!

The manager of the care home has said, “Dawn and her children sent in all these gorgeous cards with messages and pictures which the residents loved. We read the poems to the residents and they read some out too.”

“We miss Dawn but what a lovely gesture that the residents keep talking about. Please send a big thank you to Dawn and her children!”

Everyone at The Ridgeway is so proud of Jess and her family for making a difference to so many people.
