Just before the school closures, in early March, inspectors from Ofsted visited our school. After quite an eventful period in between, their report has finally been published.
We are very happy to announce that The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College has been recognised as a ‘good’ school. Furthermore, inspectors also stated that: “There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a section 5 inspection now.”
According to Ofsted procedure, inspectors will carry out a full inspection within two years.
In recent years, The Ridgeway has undergone a significant amount of improvement. Under the leadership of Principal James Povoas, with the exceptional hard work of our staff, and with the fantastic attitude of our students, The Ridgeway has become one of the best secondary schools and sixth form colleges in the Swindon area. We are therefore extremely proud that our progress has been recognised by Ofsted in its latest report.
Inspectors praised the school, it’s staff, and it’s students. Some highlights from the report include:
“The school has high expectations of its pupils and, consequently, they behave very well, both in lessons and during social times.”
“The personal development of pupils is central to the school’s vision and is delivered very effectively.”
“The school provides a large and comprehensive programme of activities, events, and trips.”
These statements, alongside the many more that can be found in the full report, are very positive and reflect the high standards expected at our excellent school.
Nonetheless, we know that in order to be the best we can for our students, we must always be striving for improvement. Our exceptionally talented staff, engaged and supportive school community, and ambitious student body ensure that we are in an excellent position to do so.
The praise given by inspectors reflects the high standards and hard work of our whole school community. Congratulations to everyone who makes The Ridgeway the amazing school that it is!
